With the aim of improving air quality in London, Transport For London have now approved the introduction of a Low Emissions Zone (LEZ) scheme with effect from 4th February 2008.
In order to deter the most polluting trucks from being driven in the LEZ, a penalty charge of £200 per visit will be levied on trucks whose engines do not meet the prescribed emission standards.
