The solution was a modular chassis program featuring seven main modules covering a wider range than previously. A main module consists of a front or rear section, including the frame sections and driver’s station. These modules can be combined in a
large number of variants to suit different transport requirements.
A high degree of component standardisation allows Scania to reduce the number of parts used by 60%, while at the same time increasing the number of combinations available to the customer. Standard components from Scania trucks are used to a
large extent. This assures rational production and simplified parts supply, while standstill times are cut for service and maintenance.
The frames in the chassis range are 50% more rigid than previous range, yet their weight is either the same as before or actually lower, in turn promoting less noise and vibration and enhancing comfort levels.
